Patterson says no

to drug legalization

The United States Ambassador, Anne Patterson, yesterday rejected the proposals by Colombian congressmen to legalize the sale of drugs.

Patterson, in a visit to the city of Barranquilla, warned that if Colombia approves this legislation, it could have problems with the international community.

"I believe that this could cause many problems with the international community," Patterson declared as she announced that her country will deliver, in the next six months, 14 airplanes for the fumigation of illegal coca and poppy crops.
