This five-second video, of unknown origin, speaks more than words can say.

It reveals the moment on May 4 when documentary filmmaker Valentina Palma Novoa was grabbed by police and prevented from filming the police raid on San Salvador Atenco, hours after Subcomandante Marcos announced that the Zapatista Army of National Liberarion (EZLN, in its Spanish initials) entered into a Red Alert in response to the violent repression unleashed in Atenco.

Two days later, after she was beaten repeatedly and sexually tortured, Palma was deported from Mexico, in spite of the fact that her visa specifically authorized her to study filmmaking and make documentary films; the work she was doing in Atenco that morning.
