I am Fabiola Rocha: Mexican and scholar of the 2013 edition of The School for Authentic Journalism.

I have always lived in the suburbs of Mexico City.
Here red colored mosaics are frequents but broadcasters talk of "more interesting" things like soap operas and sensationalist stories.

I studied dramatic literature and scene direction, but as I saw things unfold around my I decided to join the struggle to modify violent behavior through proposals of new ways of coexisting and new spaces that change energy flow.

My country is going through an important moment in relationship to social tiredness and the need for a deep change in public policy.

Mass media creates alternative realities, worlds that we don't live in and that sink the general population in a utopia, an informational lie.

We all have a right to information. It is set forward in many constitutions across the globe. But our world is related with big economic and political interests always benefiting a few.

Common citizens have the obligation to ensure our rights aren't stepped on. Doing that requires knowing them and making them public.

For the past couple of years I have seen that Internet communication has helped topple dictators and has formed a lot of people.

Overall, it is the quintessential democratic space in which everybody can publicize what is happening and share it on an international platform.

I hope to learn a lot of strategies on how to defend myself and others at SAJ, to join just causes and leave information on the side that is incoherent with my society and my country.

I need to come in contact with other social organizers and reporters that are making a difference around the world.

The School for Authentic Journalism is very important and without your support there will be no more schools.

There won't be other people that have the opportunity to come to the school and maybe, set a trend, just to show that we will never fight alone.
